Finding the root cause

Musculoskeletal (MSK) pain covers problems affecting your muscles, joints, tendons and ligaments, from low back and neck pain to shoulder, hip, knee and ankle complaints.

Through a detailed history and movement assessment we identify what is actually driving your symptoms, then explain it clearly so you understand your diagnosis and your options.

Our approach

How we deliver your care

Every plan follows the same clear, staged path, built around a thorough assessment and progressed at a pace that suits you.

1. Thorough assessment

Your first visit is a full history and physical assessment, up to 60 minutes, so we understand what is driving your symptoms and can give you a clear diagnosis and explanation.

2. A plan built for you

We design a personalised treatment plan around your goals and daily routine, combining hands-on therapy, targeted exercise and clear education. Treatment usually starts on the day.

3. Follow-up & progression

Follow-up sessions review your progress, advance your rehab programme and adjust the plan as you improve, so you keep moving toward your goal.

Appointments take place in our treatment room inside Anytime Fitness Uckfield, and home visits can be arranged on request. If you would rather talk things through first, we also offer a free remote discovery and triage call by phone or email before you book, so you can be sure this is the right service for you.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a GP referral to be seen?

No. You can book directly as a self-referring private patient, with no GP or consultant referral needed. If you are claiming on private health insurance, some insurers do ask for a GP referral first, so check your policy.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Comfortable, loose clothing you can move in. For lower-back or leg problems, shorts are helpful; for a shoulder or neck issue, a vest top lets us assess the area more easily.

How many sessions will I need?

Many people notice a change within the first few sessions. Simple problems may need only two or three, while longer-standing or complex pain can take longer. We give you a realistic estimate after your assessment.

Will I need a scan or X-ray?

Usually not. Most musculoskeletal pain is diagnosed clinically from your history and examination, and NICE advises against routine imaging for common low back pain (NG59). We refer for a scan only when it would genuinely change your management.

Is physiotherapy painful?

Assessment and treatment should be comfortable. Some techniques and exercises can cause mild, short-lived soreness, but we work within what you can tolerate and adjust as needed.

Can I claim on private health insurance?

Yes. We accept AXA Health, Aviva, VitalityHealth and WPA. Please confirm your level of cover, and whether a GP referral is required, before booking.

Do you offer home visits?

Yes. Home visits can be arranged on request for people who cannot easily attend the clinic. Contact us to arrange this.
